As a member of the National Infrastructure Commission's Design Group, Madeleine co-developed the Project-Level Design Principles (PLDPs), a practical framework translating the UK's Design Principles for National Infrastructure into tangible actions for project teams.

The PLDPs were developed following the National Infrastructure Design Symposium, curated by Madeleine, which brought together government, industry and the built environment to explore how design could be embedded more effectively within infrastructure planning and delivery.

The PLDPs position design as a strategic process rather than an aesthetic consideration, embedding it from the earliest stages of briefing and procurement through to governance, delivery and operation.

Structured around a series of practical questions and prompts, they provide a shared framework for delivering infrastructure that responds to people, place, climate and long-term value.

Now referenced across government and industry, the PLDPs support project teams in integrating design throughout the lifecycle of major infrastructure projects.
